D.I.Y Bath Bombs

There's nothing quite like that feeling when you first get in a bath... your muscles relax and all the stress you had just fades away. A fizzy bath bomb is the icing on the cake. You drop it in the bath, it bubbles away, and the bath is full of lovely fragrances and smells. What isn’t to like? So I decided to try it out and made my very own homemade bath bomb.

Equipment
A bowl to mix all the ingredients in
Bath bomb moulds (or what I used was the end of a tight leg which also works)
A pair of gloves

Ingredients
1 cup citric acid
2 cups baking soda
20-30 drops of essential oil - you might need more or less depending on the strength of the fragrance
1 tablespoon of almond oil, apricot oil, or olive oil (optional)
15-20 drops of food colouring (optional)
A tiny bit of water

Steps
1.       Mix together citric acid and baking soda in a bowl. Make sure they're mixed thoroughly.
2.       Add essential oils, optional table spoon of extra oil, and food colouring. Mix rapidly with your hands before the mixture has a chance to fizz. The food colouring will make the mixture a bit clumpy, but you can re-powder the clumps by rubbing them between your hands.

3.       Add water into the mixture a tiny bit at a time, and continue mixing. You probably need less water than what you think! Aim for a consistency where mixture is still pretty crumbly but will just hold its shape when you squeeze it hard in your hand.

4.       Pack the mixture tightly into your mould(s). If you're using a two-part mould like the then slightly overfill each half of the mould, and press them together tightly. Don't twist, just press. Tap the mould to release the bath bomb. Or you can use the end of a tight you just scoop your mixture into the tight and tie it very tight so it makes a moulds like this.

5.       Let your bomb(s) dry for a couple of hours in a warm, dry place. Keep them out of direct sunlight though. I like to place the bombs on kitchen roll. It seems to help them dry better, and stops them from going flat on the bottom.

This was my finishing result of the bath after i had added the bath bomb.

I hope you enjoyed this D.I.Y and hope you try this idea out as it can be very nice for a gift for someone or even for yourself to enjoy.
